4/1/17 - I would also like to thank you for all your support at our Christmas Fair on December 12th, we raised £1,279.82 and a big thank you goes to our wonderful Friends committee for all their hard work and organisation. Debbie Dix, Head teacher.
28/11/16 Thank you to everyone who has offered to help with the school fair - it has been great to see everyone coming together and also to see just how much everyone does support the school.
Friends have been busy organising things for the big event on December 9th 5-7pm and we have thrown together a list of all of the stalls and their 'owners' and also names for 'volunteers' on the day. To take the pressure off of Vicky and Kate (who have worked tirelessly at the school fairs for far too many year now!) we are asking for people to effectively 'own' their stall and take on the responsibility of the stall before, during and after the fair. We are of course all here to support and share the work and also answer any questions but doing it this way helps out immensely.
I have attached the list and also put names by each of the stalls - if there is a vacancy and you fancy helping out then just give me a shout and I will pop your name in the slot!!! Likewise if I have given you a job and you can't do it then please let me know and I'll swap things around! We are still trying to organise a Santa so if anyone is available for the job then please shout (I am currently liaising with the village shop about a suitable volunteer!!!).
Also if there is anyone who would like a stall then please let us know - we will be charging £10 for the 'pitch' but after that the money is your own! So lets get spreading the word and make this a fun and festive Christmas fair!
Kind regards, Hannah and Friends of Oldbury School

A 2018 Calendar!!!
A photo competition each month posted on here and voted by you (the one with the most likes wins) starting with now - November - so that we have one winner each month and can have them printed ready to sell by next November.
They will be A4 size, one month per page and be £10 each.
What do you think? Who can kick us off with some November photo's?
1. if there are people in the photo we MUST have written consent from them (or their parents) to be in a calendar.
2. No digital enhancements
3. Must be of Oldbury-On-Severn or immediate surrounding area
4. The winner is the one with the most likes by the last day of the month.
Any queries about the calendar see Natasha Leschinski (Max’s mum)
We have a facebook page "Friends of Oldbury School" with all the latest info.

Friends of Oldbury School
Firstly I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported the Friends of Oldbury School during the 2015/16 academic year. Once again we had a successful year with the Christmas and Summer Fairs being our biggest fundraisers.
A few parents have asked about the Friends plans for the current academic year, 2016/17.
A date will be set after half term for the AGM.
After a lot of consideration Kate Collins and I have decided it is time for us to step down from our roles of Chairperson and Treasurer. This is not a decision we have made lightly but due to many other commitments we feel after 5 years on the committee it is time to hand over the reins to someone else.
So this year at the AGM we will be looking to recruit a new Friends Committee, Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Treasurer and Secretary.
The Friends of Oldbury School is a parent organisation which raises money by organising events such as the Christmas and summer fairs, cake sales, refreshments at school events and social evenings, such as movie nights, bingo, quiz nights.
We are very fortunate that at our school we have always had a Friends committee who have worked very hard organising events. On average in each academic year the friends raises £3500 which is a considerable amount for the number of pupils at our school. This money is spent on equipment and resources to enhance our children’s education experience and the school facilities.
A substantial amount of the money raised is used to cover transport costs, (buses and mini buses), for school trips, keeping the costs of these trips to parents considerably low.
All parents and members of the school community are encouraged to get involved with, ‘The Friends’, even if they only have a small amount of time available. Your participation is the key to our success and we invite you all to be a part of the team!
We hope that we will have a group of volunteers who would like to carry on the work of ‘The Friends of Oldbury School’.
If you have any questions about what we do please speak to Kate or myself and we will be happy to help!
