Friends of Oldbury School

27/6/18

A HUGE & BIG THANKS to parents, siblings, families of Oldbury pupils, families of Oldbury's ex pupils, Busy Bees and the Oldbury Community Store, for all your help of Friends. By supporting us, you provide support for our lovely and fantastic Oldbury Primary School! We will have raised this school year £3,910!, which is fantastic, £3,300 from parents and families and the rest through community related funding. So, a BIG THANK YOU!

4/5/18        SHOUT OUT FOR HELP!!

It’s that time of year again folks!  The Summer Fair is only a few weeks away and we are all busy beavering away to organise another hopefully enjoyable and successful event.

As always your amazing support in helping us to achieve this is crucial.  So what do we need?

We’re after any and all donations towards the raffle and tombola, as well as bottles for the wine or water stall.  Or maybe you run a business and want to donate your time or services such as gardening, decorating or plumbing etc.  All will be gratefully received.

In addition we are running the Beauty Lucky Dip again, so we’re after anything you may have for this stall too.  A time to gather up all the little bottles and freebies we have collected along the way and donate to a great cause!

All donations can be left in the school office with Debbie, and thanks in advance for your support as always!

More Summer Fair news will follow and keep your fingers crossed for a sunny day!!

9/2/18

Dear Parents and Supporters

Following our recent meeting, we are happy to inform you that due to the success of the Christmas Fair, 2018 School Calendar sales, quiz night and other fundraising events held by the Friends of Oldbury School, we have just been able to donate the following to the school:

£1200.00 towards the cost of the specialist resin play bark required for the safety of the children under the monkey bars/climbing frame
£256.00 for blinds to the main hall as there were problems with ICT lessons due to the sun coming through
£240.00 for the transport for the whole school to go to the pantomime at the start of the year

We have lots more fun family events to come during this year, the next of which is the Valentine's Disco on Saturday 10th February. We also have another Bag 2 School collection (so get clearing out your unwanted clothing, soft toys, handbags, belts and shoes!) and a Smartie Tube Challenge.

We are so pleased to be able to support our school and provide much needed equipment, transport for school trips etc. However, we would not be able to do this without the generosity of the parents, families and supporters of these events. Your time, services, raffle prizes, cakes, money etc is greatly appreciated by the school and Mrs Dix has recently thanked everyone involved.

She said "I am so impressed, every time, by the generosity of the parents of Oldbury School year on year".

The Friends of Oldbury School are working on a list of items requested by the school that we need to raise £1500-£2000 for in the very near future. They include a garden liner and fitting to make a further area at the rear of the school useable for the children, a trip to Wookey Hole for Class Two, Easter Eggs, Class Two trip, London Trip transport, art week, gardening club, milk, a laptop for all the teachers/teaching assistants to use in the hall for assemblies etc, two chairs for Class One and Giant Jenga. All of the items we pay for are to benefit all of our children at Oldbury School and we hope that we can rely on your support in helping us to raise enough money to provide these items.

If anyone has any new ideas how we can fundraise or can offer time to help organise one of our events (for example, a Promise Auction, which was a huge fundraiser a few years ago), you will be most welcome and appreciated!
