RE & ART week (6/2/17)
On Friday 10 Feb (last day of term 3) we have decided to hold a small charity event where children can wear their own clothes to school for the day & contribute an item to Thornbury Food Bank. All non-perishable items are welcome.
Class 1's assembly was about our topic, Ice & Cold.
We have been learning facts about the planets & we also learnt about geocentric & heliocentric models of our solar system.

Class 3 enjoyed learning about glowing animals, then we ate glowing jelly & drank a glowing drink!
We had fun looking around the fire engine & we also learnt about what a firefighter does.
Raffle tickets for the Christmas Fair are now available to purchase from the school office.
Class 2 have been creating branching databases to sort out the rocks based on their properties.
This week (22/11/16) in our science lesson we discussed how shadows are formed and then we made shadow puppets.

On Monday 16 May our Year 6's will be going to London for 3 nights. They will be traveling by train/tube, staying in a youth hostel and doing lots of lovely site seeing tours/trips
As a fun way to end the term the ‘Friends of Oldbury School’ is holding a Race for Life event for Cancer Research UK at 2pm on Friday 27th May 2016 (on the school field) and we would love for your child(ren)to take part and for parents/grandparents/ family etc to come and watch the children take part and also support this amazing cause.
We have arranged a school trip for Year R, 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 to visit Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm on Monday 16th May.
We had a great time ridimg in the steam train. We even had to get our tickets from a ticket master at the entrance and got to ask the conductor lots of questions about our train.
When the new community shop opened in Oldbury village Class One went to see what it was like. They were each given 10p to spend.
Every year, instead of a residential field trip, the Year Six pupils (in 2014 also Y5) travel to London where they can experience the exciting things that the Capital has to offer.
