Term 6

5 June 2017

Dear Parents & Carers,

Welcome back to term 6, the last of this academic year.  I hope you have all had a lovely break and the children are refreshed and ready to learn.

The topics for this term are:

Class 1 – The Seaside

Class 2 – Oceans

Class 3 – Medicine through the ages

The clubs available this term are:

Jewellery club – Tuesday lunchtime (for Year 2 – Year 6)
Sewing club – Wednesday lunchtime (for Year 3 – Year 6)
Hockey – Wednesday (3.15-4.15pm) for class 2 & 3 starting 11 Jan
Netball – Thursday lunchtimes for everyone
Football - Thursday for class 2 & 3 after school (3.15-4.15pm)

PE

As you will already know we will not be visiting Thornbury Leisure Centre this term to go swimming but instead there will be an extra PE lesson on Wednesday afternoons.  Please can I remind you to send your child into school with their PE kits on Wednesdays and Thursdays for the rest of this academic year.

INSET DAYS

We have 2 INSET days coming up in term 6.  The first of these will be our annual ‘Parents’ Consultation Day’ on Fri 7 July, when you are welcome to come into school, look at your child’s books and folders and talk to your child’s teachers (no appointments necessary).  We’ll send more details about this nearer the time.  The second INSET day will be on the Friday of the last week of term

(Fri 21 July).  Therefore the last day at school for the children will be Thurs 20 July.  Please note there will be no after school club on Thurs 20 July but there will be normal after school club provision Mon 17 July – Wed 19 July.  Term 1 will start on Monday 4th September.

Sports Day

At the end of term 5 we held a lovely sports day in glorious sunshine!  I’m pleased to announce that the Jaguars were the winning team and will have their team name engraved on the Sports Day Trophy.  Congratulations to Seb, Lois, Charlie W, Tristan, Junior, Bobby, Max, Heidi, Sunny, Molly, Amalie and Dominic!  May I also say a huge ‘well done’ to the rest of the children who all completed admirably and a big thank you to parents and Friends of our school for supporting this event.  We made £57 from the plant sale and £75 from selling refreshments.

Finally, I’m very sad to announce that Mrs Jo Goodwin our TA in Class 1 will be leaving us at the end of this term, we wish Jo all the very best for the future.

Yours sincerely,

Debbie Dix
