On Friday 25 May, the last day of term 5, we plan to hold a “play day” at Oldbury School. This will involve the children taking part in a variety of types of structured and unstructured play, under adult supervision.
The benefits of play for children are well documented. They will include benefits to physical and psychological health and the development of social skills, negotiation skills, self-esteem, decision-making and resilience. In addition to this, promoting play helps children relate better to children of other ages and improves inclusion.
It is hoped that, weather permitting, the children will be able to use the school grounds, so please send your children to school in comfortable playing clothes suitable for outdoor play, it is not necessary to wear school uniform on this day.
