Cake Sale on 23 Nov

Dear parents & carers,

You may be aware that we had a special visitor to our assembly on Wednesday 14 November.

Whole school assembly

We had a Kenyan visitor who is headteacher of a primary school in Kibera slum in Nairobi who kindly presented an assembly to the whole school sharing with the children about life in a Kenyan school. The school has a high proportion of single or double orphans, and all the children live in various states of poverty, with the school providing the only meal of the day for many of them.

Many of our children felt moved to help Kenyanito (the Head teacher in this photo) and the great work that he and his staff do in their school to help children in difficult and dangerous conditions. After talking to the children it was suggested that we hold a cake sale after school on Friday 23 November, instead of doing the Christmas shoebox appeal this year. Debbie Hall will shortly be sending out paper plates to collect cakes for the cake sale. Many thanks in anticipation of your support,

Yours sincerely,

Debbie Dix
