A Caring Environment

Oldbury school believes that learning is most effective in a environment where pupils feel happy, confident and secure.

The Oldbury "Family"

A caring family feeling runs throughout the school, staff and pupils alike. The school has played a central role in the village since its foundation in 1854 and continues to do so today. How many schools can say that up to four generations of the same family attended or even returned to the school as staff or governors?

This sense of belonging supports the confidence of our pupils, helping them to develop independence as they grow.

A culture of caring

Oldbury both encourages and celebrates kindness, based on its strong Christian ethos. Each week the pupils are nominated to recieve the Carers Cup for what would otherwise be an unnoticed act of kindness towards another pupil.  In addition Special Helpers are chosen daily to assist the teachers, building self esteem by being given responsibility in an environment they feel safe in.

Moral Guidance

Oldbury School has a close relationship with St Arilda's Church, which just a short stroll away. As well as holding our end of term services and concerts in the church, there is an active involvement, we can ensure the moral guidance of each and every pupil stays at the forefront of everything we do.

"The excellent relationships between children and throughout the whole school community, based on the distinctive Christian values of respect and friendship, have a substantial impact on children’s personal development and well-being." SIAMS Report 2017

Social Interaction

Small class sizes allow interaction across a wide range of age groups, with various in school clubs being suggested and run by the pupils themselves.
